Title: Ultrasonic motor based on dielectric actuators

The traditional ultrasonic motors (USM) are composed of piezoelectric materials (PZTs), using the piezoelectric effect to create surface waves–in ultrasonic level–on the stator in order to drive the rotor by frictional forces. The aim of our project is to create a new type of USM by substituting piezoelectric actuators with dielectric actuators (DEAs), which have fewer costs than PZTs have.

We choose the photosensitive type PDMS as the dielectric material in the DEA, owing to its convenience in patterning.
